BEAM’s successful summer literacy program, “Students with a Goal,” reduces summer reading loss and advances reading achievement for economically-disadvantaged youth. BEAM continues to improve the programs offered by incorporating local input from educators and literacy experts.
BEAM also engages local, County, and State Educational Institutions to develop opportunities for residents. Programs may include GED course offering, tutoring programs, computer instruction and financial literacy education. |

BEAM works with local partners to bring health education initiatives and teach skills to improve wellness.
Examples of BEAM's services in this area include working with Groundwork Elizabeth on "Come Grow with Us", a three season educational gardening program to promote healthy eating and active lifestyles. BEAM also partners with local nutritionists to bring healthy cooking skills directly to the communities we serve. The programs promote the benefits of gardening, good nutrition, and active lifestyles to economically disadvantaged residents. |
